Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Murchison falls National Park and track rhinos en route.

Set off from Kampala to Murchison falls National Park. You will drive via Luwero, Nakasongola and Masindi district. On your way to the park you will break off the highway to visit the Ziwa rhino sanctuary to track rhinos. You will spend 2-3 hours trekking and admiring rhinos. After this exercise you will have lunch and then continue your journey and arrive at the park in the evening.

The trip will provide you with extensive eye catching panoramas and arrive at the park in the afternoon.

Drive to the top of the falls where the Nile perfects its splendor. Here you will see the calm Nile dipping itself through a narrow gap to fall a gap of about 150 feet down, mixing up out the loud white water, an incredible view! Cross over the Nile River, by the ferry for dinner and overnight at Para Safari Lodge.

Day 2: Game drive safari and launch cruise A game

A game drive and boat cruise are the major Uganda safari activities in Murchison Falls National Park. After breakfast, start an early game drive before dawn to catch up with the early risers. In this exciting game drive, you will be able to see animals like jackals, hyenas, giraffes, lions, antelopes, elephants, and Uganda cobs, among others. You will rest from the game drive for anything to eat, and later on lunch. The afternoon will be for an open-launch cruise. The boat trip will take you to the top of the falls, where animals like buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and plenty of water birds like fish eagles, rare shoebills, and many more will not escape your sight. Retire for the night and dinner.

Day 3: Tour the magnificent top of the forest and later return to Kampala

After early morning breakfast, check out of the lodge, drive to the captivating top of the falls and leave for Kampala. The top of the falls is  wonderfully an eye catching scene as its where waters of river Nile, Africa’s longest river, forces itself through a narrow rock path (7m wide), before strikingly dipping down 43 m. It is an incredible photo opportunity. After an hour or less at the top of the falls, proceed with the day’s drive to Kampala where you arrive in the evening. Large en route up on reaching Kampala, the drive will transfer you to your hotel or drop you at Entebbe.

Murchison Falls National Park It is located in the northwestern region of the Albertine rift valley around Victoria Nile. The park is situated in the districts of Buliisa, Nwoya, Kiryandongo and Masindi (the nearest large town).

Murchison falls is the oldest and largest national park in Uganda gazetted in 1952. It is a home of the strongest falls and covers an area of 5,025 square kilometers, the area is traversed by the Victoria Nile connecting Lake Kyoga with Lake Albert. Birds

The park’s main birding attraction is the shoebill best sighted in the dry season from January to March. Other birds include; savanna forest birds, water birds, Albertine rift endemics, marabou stock, secretary birds, window bird and many others.

Murchison Falls National Park is open to tourists throughout the year but game viewing is better in the dry season of December to February then June to September when the park is dry and vehicles do not get stuck as it is in the rainy season when the place is muddy.
